Mickey
Our little Westie
unfortunately had to be put to sleep 5 weeks ago, due to a rapidly spreading
bone cancer. She was 11 years old - but "as good as new"
until she suddenly got so terribly ill.
It is very hard to get
over, but we still have to old dogs - 10 and 14 years old (not
westies) and we will not have a new Westie puppy before they have
passed away.
She always loved me to come and play soccer with her.
Despite the name "Mickey" it
was a little westie-girl. At the kennel where we got her 11 years
ago, they had two puppies left. A male and a female.
We had opted for a male, but I
think Mickey wanted us to take her home, and when unnoticed for a
few seconds she swapped place with her brother, and nobody noticed
the mistake, until we brought her to the vet for the first time
some days later.
He asked why we called a bitch
for Mickey, and we said that it was a male. He laughed and said,
if we had had a good look underneath..... He was right. She
actually was a girl. We were so embarrassed, but everybody was
laughing about our ignorance.
We never regretted the mistake
however. She gave us so much joy and love. We could not have asked
for more. She filled the house with life in a way the two other
dogs we have left never ever have done - although we love
them for what they are as well.
