1) Editor's Thoughts
2) Kind Thought For The Day
3) Readers Question: - Eyes Poorly
-------------------------------------------------
1) EDITOR'S THOUGHTS!
Hi All
I hope you are all keeping well. No I haven't fell down a well. I am still working hard on the new membership site which is
starting to see some light now. Instead of one step forward and 4 steps back, it is now one step forward and 3 steps back.
Not to bore you too much, but I have completely dispensed with software that did not have the required support for a long term
future of this site.
Mike has been looking after you so well. I knew he would and we are all lucky to have him. Please continue to give him your
valued support.
As he has said in his post, we are a large family, but there were
some people who were idiot ( I use this politely) who will try to
destroy our enjoyment and what we are trying to build.
With regard to the forum, ONLY registered members will be allowed
to post. Mike knows my thoughts and agrees with the rules posted.
I also know that the majority of the members will agree also, because I can see from the posts.
If any member breaks the rules such as spamming, name calling, anything of an offensive nature, that membership will be terminated.
We want all our members to feel secure. The private site will ensure
this. Also it will basically cut out spamming and idiots that try to
damage our community.
Thank you for your suggestions to the new membership site. I have
taken these on board and will try to incorporate as many as possible.
Thank you for all your stories to date, but we need more of the following:
1) Do You Know Someone Who Made A Difference But Didn't Realize It?........
I am developing another project based on the above question? Have
you ever seen the film "It's A Wonderful Life! -(My Favorite) It's
featured every Christmas on most TV channels.
The overview of the film is Quote:
An angel helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman George Bailey by showing what life would had been
like if he never existed . It is an old black and white film, but it's story is eternal.
I am looking for stories of people you know who have made an important difference in your life or your family's life, but never realised
or were told. I am not talking about movie, sport or music stars.

Please send me more of the above . You can or post them on the forum at:

I would appreciate your replies, because I value them all

3) READERS QUESTION! - Eyes Poorly - Posted By Vicki
Hi all sorry to be a nuisance, and technically very naughty to plea
for help on a westie site when the problem I have is with my 9 year
old Black Cocker Spaniel, Lucy.
We got up on Friday morning and discovered the Lucy was blind and
couldn't see anything. we rushed her to the vets and they are still
not hundred percent certain until we go back next Tuesday what is
causing it.
They have said they think Lucy suffers with Dry eye - has anyone
heard of this or anything that can help these symptoms. Currently
she has to have 5 different drops hourly and on steroids just praying we have caught it early enough.
Any ideas with many thanks in advance
-------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Vikki,
My first westie suffered from Dry Eye, it is when they do not make tears are unable to get rid of any foreign object that
goes into the eye even a speck of dust will cause the dog discomfort.
They get like a discharge a bit like conjunctivitis it does need antibiotics to clear this up but once your dog is clear
you can help keep the dogs eye moist with artificial tears called
"Hypomellose" drops these are drops that don't need a prescription and can be purchased a lot cheaper from your
local chemist rather than getting them from the vet.
This will not help with the blindness. My westie was only about 18months when first started with the problem and my
vet warned me that she would go blind early, this is not so much of a problem with dogs as they use their sense of
smell a lot more.
Good Luck hope everything is Ok with Lucy

Hamish has suffered with dry eye for a few years and only went blind because of a cataract on it - he has drops
(more like a cream) to put in it everyday and has check ups every so often where the tear amount is checked.
A drug he received for another problem (emphysema) caused him to go blind in his good eye.
